An Old Monk

Islands in the Aegean,
lions stretched to rest,
turned to stone

riding high on the back of Patmos,
the Monastery of St. John,
fortress refuge a thousand years

late morning chants,
an old monk black robed,
sits upright by the gate

he waits,
gray eyes level as the sea,
calm today

Patmos

  1. mom doesn’t give me pop quizzes (I’m home school .) Or tests because she knows how I’m doing. Well, thats not entirely true. She gives me spelling tests once a week.I’m correcting my math… Mom has me do that.
